Fire protection monitors for increased fire protection requirements

When buildings are erected, whether hospital, school, restaurant, hotel or trade fair, the subject of fire protection is unavoidable. Architects and engineers must therefore take the currently applicable fire protection regulations into account when planning and equipping buildings.

This applies in particular to areas relevant to fire protection, such as stairwells or escape routes. On the one hand, these must remain accessible in the event of a fire, and on the other hand, no flammable or smoke-gas-emitting materials may be attached or installed in these areas.

These requirements often prevent the installation of standard displays, since monitors are considered electrical components which, in the event of defects, can lead to fire or smoke. Our digital signage products have been adapted to these special requirements. Thus, fire protection and digital signage can be optimally combined.

The fire behaviour of eKiosk devices

Mensch mit Tastatur vor Digital Signage Stele

The classification of the fire behaviour of building materials is regulated in the European standard EN 13501-1. This standard evaluates individual materials with regard to their fire load and smoke behaviour.

The housings of our devices consist almost exclusively of metal (aluminium, steel) and glass. These materials are considered non-combustible according to the standard, which is why our terminal systems have a very low fire load overall. The housings themselves can even be classified in building material class A1 or A2.

Since our systems can be dismantled at any time, they are also considered “not firmly attached to the building”. There is no test certificate issued by the building authorities for such products. There are therefore no standardised fire protection requirements for these devices.

On request, we will request an expert opinion from an external fire protection expert for your desired model. If you have further requirements or need proof, we can organise this for you, if necessary by involving external experts.

Our references for fire protection projects

Since fire protection plays a major role in every building, our digital signage models and kiosk systems have already convinced in a wide variety of projects.

Shopping Malls

Large projects have been implemented with various shopping malls, for example. PHEX consoles are often used there for wayfinding.

University & Library

In universities and libraries such as the FU Berlin, TU Dresden and Uni Leipzig, models of our series devices are also used to control room signage, for example.

Stations & Airports

The topic of fire protection in railway stations and airports is also very important. Here, our self check-in systems are already in use in London, Sweden and Norway in airports.
